The competition addressed the restoration and extension of the Sliač spa near Banská Bystrica — several protected historical monuments from the 19th and 20th centuries set across a vast area beside the forest.

A central reception building with 422 underground parking spaces manages arrivals, and a shuttle-bus system separates cars from the pedestrian heart. New accommodation follows the existing compositional axes; the pool hall gains saunas, and a colonnade and amphitheatre mark the thermal springs. An industrial chimney is reimagined as an accessible lookout tower.

Delivered in three phases, the plan reaches 1,349 beds — from core infrastructure, through the restoration of the Palace and Poľana buildings, to new spa houses and cultural facilities. The landscape is read as five compositional units, with historic restoration guided by period photographs and a reconstructed water cascade.
